The Department of Oncology is responsible for the non-surgical treatment modalities of adult patients with solid tumours according to international accepted guidelines and standards.
The Department of Oncology takes care of the following solid tumour types:
- Breast cancer
- Lung cancer
- Gastrointestinal (GI) tumours, both upper and lower GI-tumours
- Gynaecological tumours
- Urological tumours including testicular cancer Head and neck tumours
- CNS tumours
The treatment modalities include all non-surgical oncological modalities focusing on cancer chemotherapy, biologically targeted drugs and radiotherapy.
The Department of Oncology is responsible for extensive clinical cancer research activity, and is also attached to the Laboratory of Radio-biology; a research laboratory responsible for both animal testing and clinically related (translational) oncological research.
