Renal Transplant
Published on September 23, 2024
Kidney transplant is an effective and most recommended sole method of renal replacement therapy. BMH is committed to providing hope for all patients with end-stage renal failure to live again a dialysis-free life. Since 2018, when the first successful kidney was done to the first pair to date, BMH has performed over 50 kidney transplant procedures. The hospital, in collaboration with the Tokushikai Medical Group in Japan and the University of Dodoma, embarked on a journey of kidney transplant one year ago, just after the first transplant in Tanzania in 2017. After a well-crafted strategy, our BMH team was trained in Japan, and since the hospital was committed to advancing kidney care beyond dialysis by starting to perform this life-changing surgical procedure that was first performed in 1954.
BMH offers Living Donor Kidney Transplant. Our team of compassionate and gifted transplant surgeons, physicians, nurses, social workers, and nutritionists is dedicated to providing patient-centred, well-coordinated, and highly compassionate care throughout the pre-transplant evaluation, intraoperative, and post-transplant follow-up care.
BMH and other stakeholders’ purpose is to establish the centre of excellence in kidney transplants with a focus on cutting-edge research and training that focus on improving access to transplant services and kidney health. Our close collaborations give us the mileage to offer state-of-the-art transplant services focused in all spheres of the transplant ecosystem.
